Modern movie trailers are often considered to be filled with spoilers and reveals fans wish they weren't aware of by the time the movie releases. Some viewers elect to even go to movies without even seeing the trailer anymore because they've been known to spoil so much.
Although many trailers get away with what they include, some unfortunately spoil too much. While that doesn't always take away from the enjoyment of films, some trailers simply give away their biggest and best reveals right in the marketing.
Of all the things that could've been spoiled in the trailers for Deadpool & Wolverine, a massively anticipated blockbuster of a returning franchise and introduction to the MCU, it's shocking that there was only one big spoiler. Starring Ryan Reynolds and the returning Hugh Jackman in the titular roles, Deadpool & Wolverine looks to round out the trilogy of the Deadpool series, but this time in the MCU.

20 Funniest Quotes From Deadpool & Wolverine, Ranked
Deadpool & Wolverine is packed with action, but the film's razor-sharp humor is what truly steals the show.
The film has several incredibly hilarious and awesome moments fans all over the world loved, from the return of classic Fox Marvel characters like Blade and Elektra to exciting action sequences like the finale. One big return that was, unfortunately, spoiled before fans had a chance to see the movie was the return of X-23. Although she isn't the biggest cameo that could've been spoiled, it's a bit disappointing her return was made known. That said, audiences loved seeing Dafne Keen return to the role, and hope that X-23 stays in the MCU for the foreseeable mutant-filled future.
Some movies are built on one incredibly strong pitch, and the rest of the film can thrive off of that idea alone. Abigail is a perfect example, as the movie is simply about a group of criminals trying to survive the night without being killed by a scary vampire ballerina. Starring an all-star cast of Alishia Weir, Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Angus Cloud and more, audiences simply enjoy seeing these charismatic performers and characters fight to survive.
However, the movie takes its time to reveal that Abigail is the killer vampire the trailer and marketing told everyone she would be. While not a major problem, audiences were well aware that at some point Abigail would be killing people. Even though the twist was spoiled in the trailers, fans still had a great time at the movies. Abigail delivered on what was promised, and audiences had a great time watching the bloody display.

Unfortunately, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicked off the modern MCU franchise on the wrong foot. Fans were disappointed by the lackluster story, rough CGI, disconnection from the greater stories and the fact that half of the movie was spoiled in the marketing. In the lead-up to the film, audiences were given previews of just about every major story element this film had to offer, from the major new villain in Kang to the finale sequence.

10 Best Fights in MCU Phase 5 (So Far), Ranked
Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is well underway, and it's already produced several great fights.
The trailers gave off the impression to audiences that the film had so much to offer, including what they were already being shown. However, viewers quickly began to realize that the trailers simply showed everything the movie had to offer in terms of story and characters. There were no major surprises or exciting twists, apart from the odd MODOK reveal. Fans were fully aware of everything they were about to watch just from the admittedly entertaining trailers.

In another example of a movie having a hard time avoiding revealing the premise, Violent Night is a wildly entertaining modern Christmas flick that couldn't avoid spoiling its story. In this film, David Harbour wears the classic snow-white beard and red outfit as he expertly takes on the role of a tired and worn-out Santa. However, his whole night is flipped upside-down when he comes across a house being taken over by criminals, led by John Leguizamo.
The trailers couldn't avoid the premise, especially the later parts of the film where audiences saw Santa Claus take out mercenaries in violent and exciting ways. The trailers and marketing delivered on the premise audiences couldn't wait to see, even with the soft spoilers fans saw before the movie was released.
In a year with so much to offer, one of the best horror flicks of 2025 so far is Companion. Starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, Companion's initial marketing and trailer left fans excitedly curious, only being teased with a few horrific shots and bloody situations. However, once the second wave of trailers and marketing was released, fans got a much clearer idea of what they were about to watch.
It's hard to avoid seeing how the majority of the movie centers around this plot, but fans learned from the trailers that Companion was about romance androids. Going into the movie, fans knew pretty much what the entire story would focus on, even though that doesn't take away from the plot. With such brilliant commentary and theming right from the premise, fans could already tell that Companion was going to be an entertaining hit. Although the twist was somewhat hampered by the trailers, Companion is still an excellent time.

As promised by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Black Adam was meant to be the "hierarchy of the DCEU," shifting to newer and brighter futures, starting with his starring film somewhat reinvigorating the franchise. Unfortunately, fans didn't fall in love with the movie as much as initially hoped, and many wondered why a Black Adam-centered DC Extended Universe was even a plan to begin with. While any idea could've helped save the failing franchise, Black Adam unfortunately wasn't enough, and the trailer did the movie no favors.
Although it wasn't initially realized as a spoiler, the trailer reveals that the Black Adam audiences see in the film is actually the father of the original Black Adam who took over the role after his son's death. While this does sound like an interesting backstory, audiences were surprised to see the movie paint this reveal as a twist. Not only were audiences fully aware once the movie was released, but it also wasn't that big of a deal to begin with.

Sony's time attempting to make a cinematic Spider-Man universe without the friendly neighborhood webhead himself will go down in cinematic history as being one of the oddest ideas put to screen. With the Venom trilogy, Kraven the Hunter, Morbius and Madame Web, fans had voiced their disappointment at every turn. One sly tactic employed by Sony to make their films seem more appealing was by including references to Spider-Man and the larger universe of Marvel. Particularly with Madame Web, their trailers showed the protagonists' eventual fate of becoming Spider-Women.

10 Most Disappointing Sony Spider-Man Universe Villains, Ranked
The Sony Spider-Man Universe is filled with disappointing villains, from the underwhelming Carnage to the truly horrible Ezekiel Sims.
Unfortunately for audiences, the main characters never end up becoming the Spider-Women they were promised throughout the film, and everything that was seen in the trailers was the entirety of their screen time. Understandably, fans were very disappointed as this was the second time Sony trailers tried to trick their audiences into seeing their movies. While a Spider-Women film would've sounded exciting, it'll always be a baffling decision why Sony promised them in the Madame Web trailers.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken was an incredibly underrated coming-of-age animated film in 2023 that told the story of a Kraken family secretly living in a seaside town away from trouble. When Ruby goes into the water, she discovers that she is destined for oceanic royalty, but also accidentally alerts the evil mermaids that lurk close by. The trailers painted a decent picture of what the film would end up looking like, especially as they featured moments throughout the entire film.
Although it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the film, the trailers give away a lot of the plot. Fans get quick glimpses into Ruby's royal origins, as well as the reveal that the popular girl is actually the evil mermaid coming to destroy Ruby and her family. Even with the spoilers, the film is still very entertaining and deserves more recognition from audiences.
One of the most underrated Netflix movies of all time has to be They Cloned Tyrone. Starring John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, Jamie Foxx and Kiefer Sutherland, and directed and co-written by Juel Taylor, the movie tells the story of three unlikely friends coming together to save their neighborhood from the predators that seek to destroy it. Modern trailers and marketing have a hard time keeping the trailers spoiler and surprise-free, and They Cloned Tyrone is a hard film to sell without giving away some of the electric premise.

10 Most Underrated Direct-To-Streaming Films From the Last 5 Years
With so many new movies coming out every month, many people may have missed some incredibly underrated films that deserve much more praise.
Fans got plenty of peeks into the mystery that was unfolding around the three leads as the movie continued. With that being said, none of what was spoiled takes away from the movie at all. In fact, it sells the movie even more to fans. While They Cloned Tyrone's trailers give away quite a bit of the movie, that didn't stop it from becoming a minor, underrated hit on Netflix.

Reactions for the newest Captain America adventure, starring Anthony Mackie, were unfortunately missed. The film had a hard time escaping the behind-the-scenes rumors about reshoots and production delays, as well as numerous reports that the film was initially going to look a lot different. With so much confusion clouding the Marvel Cinematic Universe today, it's harder than ever for fans to tell what might be the next big thing or what might be the next big disappointment. Although it's great to see Sam Wilson brandish the shield in his big-screen outing, the adventure he was given felt disjointed.
One of the best ideas the film included was reintroducing the ideas from the original The Incredible Hulk film from 2008. Not only does the Leader return, but Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross finally becomes the long-awaited Red Hulk. However, because audiences were well aware of the Hulk connections, none of the surprises or story beats in the new movie felt impactful. Other than a cameo or two, audiences were fully informed of every so-called twist and turn due to the trailers and marketing.
