Starring Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal, the duo is known for unorthodox methods from the outset of the film. The movie features silly antics and running gags while getting strong lead performances from the two stars. Hines and Crystal aim to take down Steven Bauer's character if it's the last thing they do.

This movie follows in the footsteps of Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder films of the 1970s and 1980s, Trading Places, and Lethal Weapon, which followed a year later. Hines had been a well-known performer and dancer turned actor, and Crystal had just finished two seasons on Saturday Night Live before filming this. The pair was praised for their chemistry on screen, but the film's violence was noted as being too much for an action comedy at the time.

A spoof on Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, stars Bill Murray as a man thrust into a global assassination plot, all while thinking he's taking part in interactive theater. Every step of the way, Murray's character Wally thinks what's going on around him is scripted when, in fact, none of it is. It takes place in London, and Wally is assumed to be an American spy by all the villains in the film.

Wally lucks out in many of the scenes just by happenstance, giving this slapstick comedy its merits. Peter Gallagher plays his brother and Joanne Whalley, Alfred Molina, Richard Wilson, and Nicholas Woodeson all costar. The film underperformed at the box office, only grossing $13.7M. But it's a good spy comedy for those in the mood for one.

This 2002 caper film is a remake of the 1958 Italian film Big Deal on Madonna Street (I solitti ignoti). It features Luis Guzmán as a thief who, while in prison, puts together a team to try and carry out a heist. Things go sideways when he actually fails to get out of prison, but others do, leading them to try to carry out the thievery.

Sam Rockwell offers a memorable turn in the film, and the cast is filled out with quality actors like William H. Macy, Isaiah Washington, Michael Jeter, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Esposito, Patricia Clarkson, and even George Clooney. It's a movie that features some ridiculous scenes and some pretty dumb characters. While it's not as good as the original by any means, it's still worth enjoying.

Tensions build and boil over in a Boston warehouse in 1978 in , a British action comedy directed by Ben Wheatley. The movie centers around a group of IRA members buying guns from an arms dealer when things go south because of previous encounters. The movie takes place solely in one place and features lots of shootouts. The dry wit of the characters and the unexpected connections give this movie its humor.

It has a notable cast that includes Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Sam Riley, Jack Reynor, Sharlto Copley, and Noah Taylor. Wheatley co-wrote the film with Amy Jump, and Larson replaced Olivia Wilde, who was originally cast as Justine. The film was received well by critics but made no money at the box office, only earning $3.8M.

A huge box office hit that no one really talks about anymore, Knight and Day made big waves for the stars and its director. Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise lead the film directed by James Mangold, who continued to build up his resume following Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma. Diaz plays June, a classic car restorer who meets Roy, played by Cruise, by accidentally bumping into him at an airport. Roy is a spy on the run from the CIA, and their paths crossing adds more logistics to both sides' attempts to capture or escape.

Diaz and Cruise have great chemistry, as this was the second time they'd worked together after Vanilla Sky. There are incredible action sequences, as there tend to be in Cruise action films. The plot twists are fun, and the explosions are plentiful. Everyone involved has done bigger and better movies. But this one doesn't get the love that it should.

A comedy with a bunch of action built in, Game Night came from directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The movie stars Jason Bateman as Max and Rachel McAdams as Annie, a married couple who love trivia and game nights. They frequently host game nights for their friends, played by Billy Magnussen, Lamorne Morris, and Kylie Bunbury. Kyle Chandler plays Bateman's older brother, Brooks, who hosts the next game night at his house and tells everyone that it is an interactive role-playing game.

When Brooks is kidnapped, the group thinks it's a part of the game. When they realize it isn't, they are thrust into a dangerous sequence of events where confusion and comedy ensue.

Bateman and McAdams are superb in their roles, showing off great chemistry and offering plenty of laughs. Nobody in the cast is better than Jesse Plemons, who plays their socially awkward neighbor, Gary, who has an interest in game nights and a love of his dog. There are accidental action sequences that turn out hilarious, and the writing is very sharp. Anyone looking for a more comedic action film should seek this out.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a 2005 action comedy that starred Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, and Michelle Monaghan. Shane Black, who wrote Lethal Weapon, returned to the action comedy genre as the writer/director of this film. Downey Jr. plays Harry, a burglar who, while escaping a crime, ends up in an audition for a movie. He impresses the casting director and is flown to L.A. to screen test for a role. While in L.A., he is set up with Gay Perry, played by Kilmer, a private investigator who is meant to give Harry on-the-job training for the private investigator role in the film.

What ensues is a huge case that involves a bumbling Harry and smooth-talking Perry trying to figure out a case of mistaken identities and why a body was being dumped in a lake. The movie was a huge hit with critics, with an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Downey Jr. is as charismatic as ever in this neo-noir comedy, which helped build his status back up in Hollywood before he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Monaghan broke out from this film and joined the Mission: Impossible franchise for her next role, furthering her star status. Kilmer proves in the film that he still has the leading man energy that Hollywood saw for years. It's a sleek, fun crime thriller with great performances that shouldn't be missed.
