00+ AXA Mansard employees champion fight against domestic, Sexual Violence in Nigeria
Over 900 employees of AXA Mansard, a leading Nigerian insurance firm, have taken up the mantle in the fight against domestic and sexual violence, particularly against children, as part of the company’s annual AXA Week for Good initiative.
The volunteers engaged in a week-long series of social impact activities across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt—visiting schools to educate students and teachers on identifying, preventing, and reporting cases of sexual and domestic abuse.
The outreach is part of AXA Hearts In Action (AHIA), the insurer’s flagship corporate responsibility programme, which encourages employees to make tangible contributions to societal well-being through volunteering, donations, and knowledge-sharing.
Speaking on the campaign, Rashidat Adebisi, Chief Client Officer at AXA Mansard, said the initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to “act for human progress by protecting what matters.” She emphasized the company’s focus this year on the theme, “Being a Girl Shouldn’t Be a Risk,” which aims to raise awareness about the vulnerabilities faced by the girl child in Nigerian society.
“This theme gives us the opportunity to highlight the socio-economic and ethical imperatives of protecting the girl child,” Adebisi stated. “Nigeria’s 105 million children and adolescents—nearly half the population—represent the nation’s greatest asset. Yet, violence against children poses a grave threat to our future.”
Statistics cited by Adebisi reveal that 60% of Nigerian children experience at least one form of violence before the age of 18—a staggering figure that underscores the urgency of the campaign.
“This is a call to action. Through AXA Hearts In Action, our employees are stepping up—not just to educate, but to ensure girls and children have access to safe spaces, and that we collectively push back against abuse in all its forms,” she added.
In 2024 alone, more than half of AXA Mansard’s workforce clocked over 23,000 volunteer hours, a testament to the company’s embedded culture of service and its commitment to addressing pressing societal challenges.
Beyond policy sales and underwriting, AXA Mansard continues to reinforce the message that corporate responsibility means leading from the front—building safer, more inclusive communities where every child can thrive.
