Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" sets a new record with its 28th week at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the longest-leading solo female hit since 1958. Ella Langley's hit single, “Choosin’ Texas,” has achieved a remarkable milestone, spending its 28th week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, dated June 13. This impressive run has set a new record, as the song now surpasses Gabby Barrett’s 2020-21 hit “I Hope” to become the longest-leading hit by a woman with no other credited recording artists since the chart's inception as the genre’s main songs chart in 1958. This achievement solidifies Langley's position in country music history.
The commercial success of “Choosin’ Texas” is evident in its performance metrics. Between May 22-28, the song garnered 27 million official U.S. streams, accumulated 48.9 million radio audience impressions, and sold 8,000 units, according to Luminate. Its 28-week reign places it among an elite group of country songs with extended stays at the top. Only three songs have logged more weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs: Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be” (50 weeks, 2017-18), Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (45 weeks, 2024-25), and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” (34 weeks, 2017).
“Choosin’ Texas” debuted strongly on the Hot Country Songs chart at No. 7 in November and has maintained its No. 1 position consistently each week since early December. Beyond the country genre, the track has also demonstrated significant crossover appeal, dominating the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks since February, showcasing its widespread popularity and impact across different music audiences.
Langley’s influence extends beyond her flagship hit. For five consecutive weeks, she has impressively claimed the top three spots on Hot Country Songs, with “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1, followed by “Be Her” at No. 2, and “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” featuring Morgan Wallen, at No. 3. This feat marks a unique achievement, as no other woman has notched such a triple for multiple weeks. “Choosin’ Texas” was cowritten by Langley with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor, and coproduced by Langley with Lambert and Ben West.
