Zara celebrates 50th anniversary with an iconic campaign cast
Exactly 50 years to the day marks the opening of the first Zara store in Spain.
Founded by Amancio Ortega, father of current Inditex non-executive chair Marta Ortega Pérez, Zara is (still) headquarted in A Coruña, in Galicia, Spain. Five decades later, the brand’s international footprint in 98 physical markets and 214 online markets as of 2025. Amidst controversies and backlash, the highstreet giant remains ahead of the curve, setting foundations in the fashion and retail industries–whether it’s through fashion-forward collections and campaigns, a seamless and tech-first approach to shopping, or creating design-led stores, forming the essence of its 50-year legacy.
Across five decades, Zara has consistently displayed a commitment to the purest essence of fashion through campaigns with best-in-class productions. To celebrate this special occasion, acclaimed photographer Steven Meisel sets the stage with a cast of 50 of the greatest models in the world who have defined the fashion landscape to join this milestone for a video campaign such as Adriana Lima, Alek Wek, Amber Valletta, Candice Swanepoel, Carla Bruni, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Doutzen Kroes, Imaan Hammam, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Karen Elson, Karlie Kloss, Linda Evangelista, Mariacarla Boscono, Naomi Campbell, Natasha Poly, Sasha Pivovarova, Twiggy, and Vittoria Ceretti to name a few.
Styled by Karl Templer, these 50 iconic models each wear pieces from an all-new Zara collection, also debuting as part of this first step of the 50th anniversary. Centred around the monochrome classicism of off-duty and tuxedo dressing, its appeal is both timeless, chic and cool.
