Xpress Payments names Wale Olayisade acting managing director
Xpress Payment Solutions Limited has announced the appointment of Mr Wale Olayisade as Acting Managing Director of the company, effective June 1, 2025. The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Mr Olayisade steps into the role following the retirement of Dr (Mrs) Markie Idowu, who served as Managing Director for five years.
“The board of Xpress Payments heartily congratulates Mr Olayisade on his appointment and wishes him a successful tenure as he leads the company in its new growth phase,” the company said in a statement.
It also expressed appreciation to Dr Idowu “for her exceptional leadership of the company.” She will remain on the board as a shareholder and Non-Executive Director.
Before this new appointment, Mr Olayisade served as Executive Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Xpress Payments. He brings to the role 25 years of experience across telecommunications, financial services, and fintech, with a focus on digital transformation. He is a Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt (GoLeanSixSigma) holder, known for applying process improvement strategies to align business goals with technology-driven solutions.
Mr Olayisade holds a B.Tech. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and an MSc in International Management from the University of Liverpool. He has also completed executive education programmes at Columbia Business School and Lagos Business School.
Xpress Payments, established in Nigeria in 2016, provides platforms for electronic payments, collections, bill payments and funds disbursement. It also offers transaction switching and processing services and operates as a licensed payment terminal service provider.
