Winsford bar closes after a year and a half in business
A BAR is the latest in a line of businesses to close its doors at the same site in a Cheshire West town.
Fortysevens Bar and Kitchen in Winsford announced the closure in a post on social media this week.
The bar appeared less than a year and a half ago on Delamere Street on the same site as Eve's, which closed around three years ago, and Rango's, which closed around six years ago.
Poppy Twist and Lucas Parfitt had big ideas beyond food and drink like live music nights, open mic nights and quizzes and they said the closure was due to unworkable utility costs.
The couple said it was 'completely out of their hands'.
A post on social media this week said: "Thank you to our amazing staff past and present.
"Also thank you to our loyal customers who stuck with us through this incredible journey."
In May, Mr Parfitt said Fortysevens Bar and Kitchen was bringing in £5 pizzas in a bid to bring in the custom over the summer months.
Mr Parfitt said the business and other businesses were battling with a cost-of-living crisis and with a change in habits among customers.
He told the Northwich and Winsford Guardian: "People do not have the disposable income they had six months or a year ago.
"It is becoming more difficult as people's hobbies have changed - I do not drink and my generation does not drink as much."
Commenters said they were sad to see the bar follow in the footsteps of cocktail, craft beer and pizza venue Eve's and tex-mex venue Rango's.
There were dozens of comments on its post on social media and many more comments when its post on social media was shared to other pages.
One of the commenters said: "[I am] sorry to hear that, great place and great people, we wish you all the best.
Another of the commenters said: "[I am] so sad as it is an amazing venue and you have worked your socks off."
