Windy this evening in the Kittitas Valley, heating up throughout the week - NewsBreak

Published 3 days ago2 minute read

It’ll be another sunny day with slightly warmer highs compared to Monday. We’ll end up being about 5 degrees warmer than normal for June 3rd. Outside of the Lower Columbia Basin, it’ll be breezy/windy across the map—especially in the Kittitas Valley.

Winds will really begin to ramp up after 5 PM in the Kittitas and Yakima valleys. Meanwhile, they’ll actually calm down in the Blue Foothills and Blue Mountains. In general, the wind across the region should be much calmer after 10 PM. Skies will be mostly clear, and overnight lows will drop into the 40s and 50s for lower elevations—30s and 40s in the mountains.

Another round of winds is slated to impact the area on Friday, with the biggest impacts still in the Kittitas Valley. Perhaps more strong winds will be in store for the weekend, as well. And speaking of the weekend: the heat will be on by then! Highs trend much warmer throughout the week, ending up at values 20 degrees warmer than normal by Sunday. In the Lower Columbia Basin, we could have our first 100s of the season! Unfortunately, no rain is in the forecast to cool us off, so vegetation will continue to be stressed out by hot and dry weather—not good for fire season prospects!
