On Sunday, March 9, the president attended a church service at AIC Fellowship Annex in Uasin Gishu, where he strongly defended his church donations.

The president affirmed his commitment to continue donating to churches despite growing criticism by Kenyans.

According to the head of state, those opposed to church giving do not believe in the word of God.

"Those who are against the word of God and the building of sanctuaries in Kenya will fail. They will not succeed, they will not overcome us. I want to say that in this nation called Kenya, God will be known. For the avoidance of doubt, because of the pushback from those who do not believe in God, who do not believe we should be building churches, and who do not believe we should be supporting the work of God in Kenya—I want to declare, as the leader of this nation, that God will be known," Ruto stated.

According to the Nation, Ruto gave his donation of KSh 20 million toward the construction of the church, saying no one will stop him from giving to churches.

"I had you had a harambee last week. Get the total multiplied by two and give me the invoice; that will be my contribution. I will continue giving, and I am not saying whether they like it or not," he added.

The donation by Ruto comes amid protests at Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, where he donated a similar amount a few days ago.

The president caused a storm in the recent past after pledging KSh 120 million toward the construction of a church in Roysambu.

On Sunday, March 2, at a service at Jesus Winner Ministry, the head of state pledged KSh 20 million, with an additional KSh 100 million promised from his friends..

A section of youths mobilised themselves around the church with the intention of staging protests.

However, anti-riot police officers used tear gas to disperse the youths who had gathered around Roysamby roundabout.
