What Ex-President Jonathan, Other Nigerian Misrulers Deserve Is To Rot In Jail, Not Buildings For Naming And Shaming - Sowore | Sahara Reporters
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Jonathan suggested that Nigeria should create two buildings in Abuja to display pictures of individuals who have contributed to the country’s problems.
Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan and all other former Nigerian leaders who misruled the country deserve to rot in jail.
Sowore, prominent human rights activist and convener of #RevolutionNow movement said this in a post on his X page on Wednesday while reacting to former President Jonathan’s proposal of two buildings in Abuja where pictures of former leaders who contributed to Nigeria’s current problems be displayed to name and shame them.
Sowore said that what Jonathan and all the former misrulers deserve is not buildings to display their pictures to name and shame them but jail where they will rot for all they did against Nigerians.
Sowore said, “Sorry, Goodluck Jonathan, all these former Nigerian misrulers, including yourself, don’t even deserve a building to name and shame you all.
“You all deserve to rot in jail for what you all did against the people of this country, Nigeria.”
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Jonathan suggested that Nigeria should create two buildings in Abuja to display pictures of individuals who have contributed to the country’s problems.
The former President argued that such an initiative would ensure their descendants recognise the negative roles their forefathers played in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking at the book launch of former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, in Abuja on Tuesday, Jonathan criticised Nigerians for tolerating bad behaviour from political leaders.
He had insisted that political leaders would act responsibly only when citizens begin to reject misconduct.
He said, “We, Nigerians, celebrate the wrong thing. And I believe one day, the country will get to the level where people will reject bad behaviour. And when we get to the level that we reject bad behaviour, this issue will not happen again.”
The former President added, “Maybe one day, we will have two big buildings in Abuja where we will put pictures of people — whether dead or alive — who have messed up this country so that their grandchildren will know their forefathers were part of Nigeria’s problems.”
