Tilova for Africa, a humanitarian force across borders touching lives and restoring dignity, is a non-profit, non-governmental charity organisation rewriting the narrative of humanitarian engagement in Africa. It has its headquarters in New Hampshire, United States,

Co-founded by Martin Nwabueze and his wife, Dr. Chisom, both pharmacists, the organisation addresses poverty, lack of access to healthcare, educational disparities, and human rights abuses often faced by minorities and underserved groups.

For the couple, a personal tragedy – the loss of a close friend, murdered in South Africa because of his sexual orientation—and a deep sense of purpose, sparked a mission that has blossomed into Tilova for Africa, which offers support, advocacy, and empowerment to some of the continent’s most marginalised and vulnerable populations.

“We feel blessed by opportunities we’ve had in US,” Martin said, “but our hearts always remained in Africa. We’ve seen too much suffering to look away.”

The organisation works by disbursing funds to those in need through its website and social media platforms, ensuring quick and targeted impact. “We’ve chosen to work with local NGOs as well,” Martin explains. “They know the terrain and help us reach more people, more efficiently.”

He noted that while funding remains critical to their operations, much of the support comes from personal donations and generous individuals, who believe in the cause. “As we scale up, we’re hoping for broader support from governments and institutions. But for now, every kind-hearted donor is part of the change we’re creating.”

What makes Tilova unique is not just the passion behind it, but its insistence on integrity and transparency. “We have policies to ensure every donation is aligned with our mission and the donor’s intentions,” Martin said. “Trust is everything. People aren’t just giving money—they’re giving hope.”

That trust has helped Tilova assemble a formidable network of over 500 volunteers. Their team includes lawyers, doctors, country experts, journalists, human rights activists, and donors. They serve communities where needs are greatest—among the homeless, the sick, hungry children, and persecuted minorities. But beyond relief, advocacy is a cornerstone of Tilova’s work. “We believe charity without justice is incomplete,” Martin noted. “That’s why we’re pushing governments, religious bodies, and businesses in Africa to change or enforce laws that protect human rights. Policy matters.”

Dr. Chisom lends her voice and expertise to healthcare-focused interventions. “We’ve both spent years volunteering and donating to causes close to our hearts. Tilova is the culmination of that journey—a platform where we can do more, together.”

Their philosophy is rooted in compassion. Martin likes to quote Mark Twain—“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” It guides every initiative, campaign, act of service. In Nigeria and Africa, Tilova delivers healthcare, support schools, provide food, and fund projects that transform communities. We believe when people of goodwill come together, small efforts can defeat big problems,” Martin said. “Even if it’s one child, one family, one voice—we’ll keep going.” As Mother Theresa said, “it’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
