Ahmedabad: Victories are joyous but defeats can be sapping. Negative emotions after a big defeat can sometimes last months. Very often, the analysis centres around ifs and buts. However, Ricky Ponting, head coach of IPL runners-up Punjab Kings, chose to look at the larger perspective.
“It was only a couple of days ago that we were here celebrating one of our great wins for the season to get into the final, and today we probably feel that we let one slip. But, with this group being as young as it is, we’ll be back bigger and stronger next season,” said Ponting. “I made it clear when I was appointed head coach that I wanted to make sure things were different. I wanted to make sure things were done in a certain way, and that’s from the top, from the owners to the head coach all the way down to the bus driver.
