Watch as army officer's Golf 4 burst into flames behind police headquarters
A Volkswagen Golf 4, reportedly belonging to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, caught fire behind the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in Accra on Monday, June 23, 2025.
A video from the scene of the incident shared by Metro TV showed the vehicle burning as onlookers complained about the no-show of personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.
Some of the onlookers could be heard lambasting the fire service for the delay in attending to the incident because their head office was just a few metres from the scene.
When the fire officer eventually arrived at the scene, they were in their vehicle for some minutes, which led to more criticism from the bystanders.
One of them could be heard saying, “look, they are still in the car,” with another man saying, “maybe there is no water”.
Eventually, the officers started fighting the fire by spraying water into the vehicle.
As they persevered to keep the fire under control, blasts could be heard from the vehicle, which was completely engulfed in fire.
By the time they were done extinguishing the fire, the vehicle was completely burnt.
