Warriors' Most Realistic Trade Package For Giannis Antetokounmpo

Published 9 hours ago3 minute read

If Giannis Antetokounmpo officially hits the trade market this summer, the Golden State Warriors have quietly assembled one of the more intriguing trade packages to make a serious push.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Warriors do have the pieces to enter the sweepstakes, assuming the Bucks superstar decides to leave Milwaukee, and that statement alone reignites long-standing dreams of a Giannis-Stephen Curry pairing. While Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler are off-limits, the rest of Golden State’s youthful core and future picks are firmly on the table.

The most realistic version of a Warriors trade package for Giannis likely begins with Jonathan Kuminga, who is eligible for a contract extension and could command between $30-40 million annually. Still just 22 years old, Kuminga is coming off a breakout season where he flashed elite athleticism, improving shot creation, and defensive versatility.

Milwaukee could see him as a foundational piece in a retool or rebuild. Joining him in the package would be Brandin Podziemski, a high-IQ 22-year-old guard with legitimate playmaking and rebounding ability. Podziemski’s basketball instincts and two-way upside make him one of the most promising young guards in the NBA.

Also included would be Moses Moody, a 6'6" wing with a prototypical 3-and-D skill set who still holds considerable value as a rotation-ready piece under team control.

Finally, Trayce Jackson-Davis would be the fourth player heading to Milwaukee, a mobile big man with polished finishing ability and defensive instincts who showed flashes of starter-level potential late in the 2024-25 season.

In terms of draft capital, the Warriors could send two first-round picks (from 2026 and 2028) and include pick swaps in 2027 and 2029, while also throwing in their 2031 unprotected first-rounder, a potentially high-value asset once the Curry era ends. That gives Milwaukee both immediate rotational talent and long-term flexibility in what could become a seismic shift for their franchise.

While the Warriors are cap-strapped, this kind of prospect-heavy offer with future draft flexibility mirrors the blueprint teams like the Suns and Nets have used to land superstars in recent years.

From Milwaukee’s perspective, trading Giannis would never be easy, but if the Greek Freak makes his desire to leave public, this deal offers immediate rotation pieces and future assets without taking on long-term bad contracts.

Kuminga alone would be one of the best young players available in any trade discussion, and Podziemski fits Milwaukee’s culture of smart, gritty basketball. Throw in controllable young talent, shooting, and a massive stack of picks, and the Warriors’ offer becomes credible, if not superior to most Eastern Conference options.

The key complication is that Giannis has hinted at New York as a preferred destination. Both the Knicks and Nets have interest, with the Knicks offering a playoff-ready roster and the Nets holding Milwaukee’s own 2025 pick.

Still, Giannis’ appearance at Stephen Curry’s All-Star weekend party, where he was the only non-Warrior in attendance, ignited legitimate chatter about a potential future in San Francisco. Giannis and Curry share the same agency (Octagon), and insiders like Logan Murdock have reported that Giannis is “intrigued” by the idea of teaming up with Steph.

While the Warriors aren’t favorites by any means, they’re lurking. If Antetokounmpo forces the Bucks to send him to a team of his choice, and that choice includes Curry, the Warriors have a realistic path to pull it off one involving all their best assets, most of their youth, and a gamble on future draft picks.

For Joe Lacob, it could be the boldest move since Kevin Durant, and one that reshapes the balance of power in the NBA once again.
