Waiting for storms to move out

Published 1 day ago1 minute read

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) - While one storm system is rotating over southern Alaska, another is waiting in the wings to arrive just as the weekend starts.

Portage has seen a good deal of rain Wednesday, up to 2 inches so far. About 3-quarters of an inch of rain fell in Cordova and Seward.

And there is a winter storm watch for heavy snow possible along the Dalton highway. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 11 inches could cause significant travel issues south of Toolik Lake and includes Atigun and Anaktuvuk Passes.

The low should move east and allow for enough clearing to see some sunny breaks over southcentral Thursday afternoon and into Friday.
