Vitezslav Jaros signs new LFC deal and joins Ajax on season-long loan
The Czechia international put pen to paper on a fresh deal to extend a spell with the Reds that began when he arrived at the Academy from Slavia Prague in 2017.
Jaros achieved his senior debut with Liverpool when he replaced Alisson Becker in the second half of a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace last October.
He then started the Carabao Cup fourth-round success away at Brighton & Hove Albion later that month, being part of Arne Slot’s matchday squad on 28 occasions overall in 2024-25.
The ’keeper will now continue his development by spending the forthcoming campaign on loan at Dutch outfit Ajax.
He will be reuniting with John Heitinga, who has taken charge of the Eredivisie club after serving as assistant coach with Liverpool last season, and have the prospect of Champions League football, with Ajax qualified for the league phase.
Jaros has previously had loan spells at St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County and Sturm Graz during his time on Merseyside.
At St Pat’s in 2021 he was named the team’s Player of the Year and lifted the FAI Cup, while at Sturm Graz he was part of a side that clinched an Austrian league and cup double at the end of 2023-24.
