US Imposes Sanctions On Four ICC Judges Over Warrant To Arrest Israeli PM Netanyahu | Sahara Reporters
The sanctions include entry bans and freezing of assets within the US.
The United States has imposed sanctions on four International Criminal Court (ICC) judges in response to the court's actions targeting US and Israeli officials.
The sanctions include entry bans and freezing of assets within the US.
The judges involved were part of the court's efforts to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and investigate alleged war crimes by US forces in Afghanistan.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "The United States will take whatever actions we deem necessary to protect our sovereignty... from illegitimate actions by the ICC."
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, thanked the US for the sanctions, saying they "justly stood up for the right of Israel".
In contrast, the Human Rights Watch has criticised the move by the US, warning it aims to intimidate the court and deter accountability for grave crimes.
