Acting US Attorney Alina Habba has charged Congresswoman LaMonica McIver for alleged misconduct against law enforcement outside Delaney Hall, New Jersey, while dropping trespassing charges against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. Habba emphasized her duty to protect federal officers.

McIver called the charges political and vowed to continue her work. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem supported law enforcement.

Baraka welcomed the dismissal and pledged to keep advocating for detainee rights, standing firmly with McIver.
