UK Sanctions Lifted for Individuals and Entity in Zimbabwe

The United Kingdom has officially delisted sanctions previously imposed on four individuals and one entity from Zimbabwe. The individuals affected by this decision are Owen Ncube, Isaac Moyo, Godwin Matanga, and Anselem Sanyatwe. The entity removed from the sanctions list is Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI).

These revocations by the UK are part of a broader trend of reassessing sanctions related to Zimbabwe by international powers. This action follows a similar decision by the European Union in February 2025, which delisted its last remaining entity, Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI), from its sanctions list while concurrently renewing its existing sanctions framework for Zimbabwe. Additionally, the United States also proceeded with the removal of a number of designations concerning Zimbabwe in March 2024.

This development was formally communicated through an HM Treasury Notice concerning Zimbabwe, dated May 27, 2025. The broader regulatory information regarding Zimbabwe sanctions was initially published on April 5, 2013, and has received multiple updates, with the latest revision on May 27, 2025, marking the addition of the current notice detailing these delistings.
