Now that Oblivion Remastered has been released, the title of worst-kept secret in video games is up for grabs. An unannounced Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake is most definitely in the running, and Ubisoft using the game to take part in viral social media trends isn't helping quell expectations.
The Assassin's Creed UK Twitter account jumped on a trend where people are sharing games they wouldn't mind having wiped from their memory, as it would mean getting to play them all over again like it was the first time. Someone shared the original Life Is Strange, that tweet was quoted with Disco Elysium, and that's when the Assassin's Creed account jumped in with Black Flag.

Two More Assassin's Creed Games Could Launch This Year
Shadows just came out, but Ubisoft might launch two more Assassin's Creed games this year.
While some fans immediately accepted that this is probably just whoever runs the account jumping on a trend for some quick and easy engagement, as expected, roughly 90 percent of the responses are those convinced this is a Black Flag remake tease. A lot of excited replies questioning whether the game might be here before the end of 2025, with one person astutely pointing out that whoever curated the post could have chosen any Assassin's Creed game, but they opted for Black Flag.
"Why Black Flag out of all the games, AC admin? Are you trying to tell us something?" Sultan replied, and it's a great question. There are a lot of Assassin's Creed games to choose from, and it seems almost certain that the Ubisoft employee responsible for the post knew exactly what they were doing. There was one game that would generate more interest and engagement than any other in the series, and that game is Black Flag.
There is a small chance that the author of the post picked a popular Assassin's Creed game and then realized the mistake they had made once the replies started to pour in. That seems unlikely, and my guess is people at Ubisoft are watching the reactions right now with smiles on their faces, assured that they've picked the right game to remake.
That's if Black Flag is even being remade, of course, although at this point, it would be very surprising to discover this remake doesn't exist. It even had a listing on the PlayStation Store at one point. After Skull And Bones was a bust for Ubisoft - although it's still getting significant updates if you want to help turn that ship around - a Black Flag remake can be a perfect, pirate-themed palate cleanser.
