In a statement by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the renewed effort was is deny Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists freedom of action and restore lasting peace in the North-East region.

He stated: “On July 3, 2025, while conducting operations around Marte and Dikwa general areas, troops discovered a large quantity of IEDs at a bridge linking Marte to Dikwa, believed to have been stashed by terrorists to unleash mayhem and destroy critical national infrastructure.

“The recovery has indeed thwarted a disaster that may have taken place in the area.

“In the same vein, while conducting a coordinated fighting patrol to Fulatari in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, troops captured a terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle with a magazine and large quantity of ammunition.

“Another combat team on operations around Mussini in Ngala Local Government Area came in contact and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to scamper.

“During the pursuit, troops recovered AK47 rifles, jerry-cans of premium motor spirit, motorcycles and terrorists’ uniforms, among sundry items.”

According to Kovangiya, troops on offensive operations at the Salekwa area in Mafa Local Government Area, also made further contact with the insurgents, neutralising some fighters while others fled.

“While exploiting the general area, troops recovered AK47 rifles, AK47 magazines and the body of one neutralised terrorist.

“The resilient troops have been commended by the military high command and have continued to conduct a series of operations in high spirits with close air support from the air component command of the OPHK and collaboration with relevant security agencies and stakeholders to facilitate socioeconomic activities in the North-East,” he added
