Tragedy Strikes Kwale: Light Aircraft Crash Claims At Least 12 Lives

A tragic incident unfolded in the Tsimba Golini area of Kwale, where a light aircraft is feared to have crashed, resulting in the potential loss of twelve lives. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the accident, stating that government agencies are actively engaged on site to determine the precise cause of the event, which occurred at approximately 0530Z.

The aircraft, registered as 5Y-CCA, was operated by Mombasa Air Services and was on its scheduled flight path from Diani to Kichwa Tembo when it went down. According to the KCAA's statement, all twelve persons who were on board the aircraft are feared to have perished in the crash. The immediate cause of the accident remains unknown, and experts have been deployed to conduct a thorough investigation.

This particular region is known for its hilly terrain, and such aviation accidents are regrettably not uncommon in the area. Mombasa Air Services, the operator of the downed aircraft, typically facilitates travel between Mombasa and various tourist destinations across the country.
