Tornos News | Travelling to the UK? Need an Electronic Travel Authorization from April 2

Published 1 month ago2 minute read

Greek citizens, like the rest of the EU, who are going to visit the UK from April 2, 2025, for a short stay, need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Applications are now open. Those planning a visit to the UK should submit this application at least 3 days before travel.

The duration of the ETA is two years, with the possibility of multiple entries, and is valid at all ports of entry. The ETA will be linked to the specific passport declared on the application and will not be valid without it. Based on the available information, when submitting the application, a digital photograph of the applicant and their passport, the answer to certain questions and the payment of 10 pounds sterling (12 euros) per application will be requested. On April 9, the fee will increase to 16 pounds (19 euros).

The application for an ETA can be submitted on the official website of the British government.

The following are exempt from the requirement to apply for an ETA: a) holders of a UK or Irish passport, b) beneficiaries of permanent residence in the United Kingdom (including beneficiaries of settled/pre-settled status), c) those who are required to apply for a visa for a short stay in the United Kingdom, d) those who are transiting through the United Kingdom by air, without going through passport control (airside transit).
