The Federal Government has promised to pay the delayed ₦77,000 monthly allowance approved for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, assured NYSC corp members that the government is committed to keeping its promises by paying them their long-awaited ₦77,000 allowance.
Regarding the case of Ushie Uguamaye, the corps member who spoke out about the cost of living in Nigeria, the government has denied reports of any punishment against her and her criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four people, including two bank workers, for allegedly stealing £138,924 (₦277,848,000) from a bank.
The suspects, Shuaib Oluwatobiloba Olaleye (27), Oladunjoye Adegoke (33), Austin Alfred (38), and Jude Uzobuaku (36), were caught on March 12 and 13 for their role in the illegal transfer of money from the accounts of international airlines kept in the bank.
According to the police, the suspects moved the money into the account of a former bank worker before taking it out.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has disclosed that the federal government spent ₦471 billion on electricity subsidies during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024.
This amount covered 57% of the total energy generated during the period, following the government’s decision to maintain customer electricity tariffs at the rates set in July 2024, according to NERC’s “Quarterly Report 2024.”
“The amount payable by DisCos to NBET for Q4 2024 was ₦360.97 billion, as the federal government covered approximately 57% (₦471.69 billion) of the total generation costs through subsidies, due to the freeze on end-user tariffs at July 2024 rates,” the report stated.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is preparing to review a petition calling for the recall of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The petition, submitted by Charity Ijese on behalf of the constituents, was received by INEC’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the constituents, over 250,000 registered voters (which is more than half of the district’s electorate) signed the petition, meeting the constitutional requirements to begin the recall process.
“We, the undersigned, being duly registered voters of the Kogi Central Senatorial District, hereby invoke our rights under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to formally demand the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate,” the petition reads in part.
