However, did you know:
- The Captain Is Dead started out as a self-published game in The Game Crafter’s shop (Designed by JT Smith & Joe Price).
- It was popular so The Game Crafter ran a Kickstarter for it and raised $114,000 with 1700+ backers.
- AEG later signed a publishing deal for the game and launched a base game and expansions for it.
- As part of the publishing deal, AEG allowed the original self-published version of the game to continue to be available in The Game Crafter’s store.
This is another great example that shows what’s possible if you turn your idea into a real game that can be played.
