Boerne, TX, is in the state's Hill Country.

A Texas woman was sentenced to four years in state prison after being convicted of misapplying fiduciary property while serving as an office manager at a Boerne, TX, auto repair business.

According to the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, , 41, embezzled $60,839 from her employer, Brady’s Auto Repair, by forging 57 unauthorized checks between July 2022 and January 2024. Paulk reportedly wrote the checks to herself and deposited them into her personal bank account.

The Boerne Police Department launched an investigation after business owner reported discovering a forged check. Detectives traced the fraudulent activity back to Paulk, who had access to the company's financial accounts in her role as office manager.

Detective of the Boerne Police Department confirmed the scheme involved multiple checks and personal gain, stating Paulk’s actions demonstrated "a pattern of deception and financial abuse over an extended period."

During the sentencing phase, Kendall County Adult Probation Officer testified Paulk had seven prior felony convictions and recommended a six-year prison sentence. Paulk had requested probation from the court instead.

The conviction follows a 2006 case in which Paulk was found guilty of forgery of a financial instrument in the 105th Judicial District Court in Corpus Christi.

The four-year sentence was handed down April 11. The DA’s office noted the decision considered the financial loss to the business, the seriousness of the offense, and Paulk’s criminal history.
