Tension in Maharashtra village after green flag placed at temple; police intervene | Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar News - The Times of India
NEW DELHI: A green flag put up at a temple in a village in Maharashtra's Beed district briefly triggered tension in the area, police said on Tuesday.
Later, the police engaged with local residents from two different communities on Monday and successfully managed to control the situation.
A festival was celebrated in Pachegaon village of Beed, and an annual yatra proceeded from the
Kanifnath temple
during the Gudi Padwa celebrations on Sunday.
Some individuals installed a green flag alongside a saffron flag at the temple on Monday, during Eid celebrations.
This action created temporary tension in the village, according to an official from Georai police station.
The police subsequently held discussions with members of both communities in the village, resulting in the removal of both flags from the religious structure, the official said.
No formal complaint has been registered regarding this incident, the official confirmed.
