Storm Center PM Update: Chillier Temperatures on the Way
SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — The first day of February has been a windy day…especially East River. With that said, though, it was still another mild day across KELOLAND, though temperatures did get held back a bit by extra cloud cover in southeastern KELOLAND.
As of 4:30 pm CST Saturday
While wind advisories have expired, we’ll remain blustery at times through the rest of the day and into the first part of the night. As high pressure builds into the region, we’ll see that wind back off a bit more.
This will be the last warm day like this for a while, as big changes are on the way as we go into Sunday and even more so into the next work and school week. Speaking of the second half of the weekend, Sunday will feature a chance for a few rain/snow showers at first before becoming all snow by the evening and into the night. Some rain showers will also be possible to the east and southeast wind temperatures well above freezing.
Accumulating snow chances will be higher near and north of Highway 14…with higher totals in the cards closer to that Highway 12 corridor, but we still could at least get some snow showers overnight into early Monday to the south and east that amount to little or outright nothing.
Everyone, however, gets in on colder temperatures through the rest of the week. While it won’t be an arctic blast of air like what we had in January, it’ll be a lot closer to average for this time of year. Temperatures on Monday will likely fall through the afternoon, with official high temperatures being observed earlier in the morning.
Along the way, we’ll have a few more chances for some snow showers. The first comes on Wednesday, and the second arrives by Friday into Saturday. We’ll be getting our reminder that winter isn’t done with us yet.
