Trump was making his case before visiting South African leader Cyril Ramaphosa and a posse of White House correspondents.

The Trump administration has repeatedly echoed claims of white genocide in South Africa. However, South Africa has strongly rejected the allegations.

Multiple reports have also debunked the claims.

Trump revisited his allegation during a bilateral meeting with Ramaphosa at the Oval Office on Wednesday.

After the South African president with a nearly five-minute video that showed “proof of persecution”, the US president flashed articles as evidence.

But one of the photos from the pile of reports was clearly taken out of context.

Trump flipped to a printout of a blog post from The American Thinker titled: ‘Let’s talk about Africa, which is where tribalism takes you’.

The featured image on the article showed Red Cross aid workers at a scene taken from a in February when over 100 women were raped and burnt alive during a mass jailbreak in Goma, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The incident occurred at the height of the conflict between the M23 rebels and the Congolese army.

As Trump played the video, Ramaphosa asked if he had any idea where in South Africa it was recorded.

Trump shook his head to say “no”.
