Melilla Ciudad del Deporte (Segunda FEB) has agreed to terms with 28-year-old French center Darel Poirier (207cm-1997) for the new 2025-26 season. Poirier played last season at Cholet Basket in the French Betclic ELITE ProA, where he averaged 3.6ppg and 2.3rpg in 7 games. He has also played for another French team, Hermine Nantes Atlantique, in the Betclic ELITE ProA.
In 2018, he was selected by the Canton Charge (G-League) in the first round (7th overall) of the draft.
He is quite an experienced player. He has played in France (Pau Lacq Orthez, Le Mans, Pole France, Etoile Angers, and Charleville Mezieres), Greece (Charilaos), Spain (Estudiantes), NBA G League (Windy City Bulls and Capital City Go-Go), and NBA Summer League (San Antonio Spurs).
Poirier played in the final of the Spanish LEB Oro Play-Off in 2022.
