Southwest will benefit from Tinubu's tax reform, says Gbenga Daniel
Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has reiterated the effort and commitment of the present administration in setting a workable template for the country’s developmental progress.
Speaking at the 4th Asiwaju Of Remo Christian Choir Festival held at Abraham Tabernacle Ecumenical Worship Centre, Sagamu, Ogun State, Daniel disclosed that local government administration did not exist before the present administration, but with local government autonomy and the disbursement of more funds, the narrative has changed.
He stated that people were sceptical about the establishment of the South-West Development Commission, noting that the president had assented to the bill establishing it, which led to the creation of a quasi-regional government.
“What this means is that aside from the federal, the state and the local government, we now have a quasi-regional government, and when you look at what the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, did when we had a regional government, then you can begin to appreciate the strategic direction of Mr President,” he said.
On the agitation for the creation of a new state from Ogun State, Daniel said stakeholders have now agreed on Ijebu-Remo as the new state to be created.

He noted that the presidential tax bill is another welcome development that Nigerians will appreciate, emphasising that the bill brings serial development to the southwest in terms of increase in allocation.
He explained that despite the daunting economic challenges facing the country, there is a need to praise God, and the best way to do that is through songs.
“The seed planted 17 years ago has grown to become a tree under which several people get spiritual nourishment through songs. I pray for spiritual sustenance and guidance for this to continue to grow and impact lives,” Daniel said about the Asiwaju Of Remo Christian Choir Festival.
He, however, commended the nine participant choirs for their inspirational songs and musical talents, noting that a profound purpose drove the annual festival to harness the power of music for spiritual and moral growth.
The special guest of honour, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, was represented by his deputy, Dr Olaide Adelani, who commended Daniel for his efforts in bringing people closer to God through songs and worship.
He also lauded the effort of the former First Lady, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, for her supportive role in making the epic event a reality.
Singinspiration Chorale, Onitsha, Anambra State, clinched the N5m star prize of the musical concert. Messiah Chorale from Ile Ife, Osun State, came second with N3.5m cash reward while De Emerald Chorale from Akure, Ondo State capital, came third, winning N2.5m. Other participants got consolation gifts for their performances.
