Source: Partizan targets Tyson Carter while waiting for Exum decision

Published 23 hours ago2 minute read

Tyson Carter enjoyed a standout season in Spain, helping Unicaja secure a place in the Liga Endesa semifinals, and has reportedly caught the attention of the black-and-whites as they look to bolster their backcourt.

His potential arrival in Belgrade, however, may depend heavily on the status of another coveted guard—Dante Exum. The Australian international, who spent the 2024–25 season with the Dallas Mavericks, remains a top priority for Partizan. Yet, indications suggest that he is closer to the NBA, and that’s still the most likely scenario.

Adding another layer of complexity, Fenerbahce is reportedly making a strong push to sign Exum should he opt for a return to Europe, a possibility first reported by Basketball Sphere. The Turkish giants’ interest represents serious competition for Partizan, who are keen to reunite with the explosive playmaker after his successful stint in Belgrade.

Fully aware of the challenges surrounding Exum’s potential acquisition, Partizan’s front office is proactively exploring alternative options. Tyson Carter stands out as one of the most viable candidates—a dynamic scorer and reliable ball-handler who could step into a leading role if needed.

With the summer transfer window heating up, all eyes will be on how these moving pieces unfold, as Partizan continues to build a roster capable of competing at the highest levels of European basketball.

This season, he has been one of Unicaja’s standout performers. He’s averaging 12 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game. Considering head coach rotation policy, it’s no surprise he plays only 21 minutes per game, as it’s rare for anyone on Unicaja’s roster to see significantly more court time. He’s shooting 47% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc this season.

Unicaja has had one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history. They won the Spanish Supercup by defeating Real Madrid in the final, claimed the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Asia, and went on to lift the Copa del Rey—once again overcoming Real Madrid. They also defended their title in the FIBA Champions League. Now, they’re set to face Real Madrid once more in the Liga Endesa League semifinals, aiming to add another trophy to their impressive campaign.
