Singer Keneeshaa Francis has taken a strong legal stand against the online abuse and threats she has faced amid the ongoing divorce battle between Tamil actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife, Aarti Ravi.
This happened after Keneeshaa was publicly linked to Ravi Mohan following their appearance together at a wedding in Chennai, which sparked rumours and led to hateful messages directed at her.Legal action and cease-and-desist notice issuedIn response to the harassment, Keneeshaa's legal team issued a detailed cease-and-desist notice to all offenders, which she shared on Instagram with the caption urging the trolls to stop their abusive behavior immediately.
The legal notice, spanning nine points over three pages, described how Keneeshaa has become the target of a coordinated and escalating campaign of online defamation. This includes unauthorized use of her name and images, circulation of manipulated or sexually suggestive photos, and the spread of false and damaging statements.
Threats and violations cited under multiple lawsThe notice also includes receiving rape threats, death threats, sexually explicit messages and repeated online stalking and tagging.
These actions, the notice states, violate several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including sections on sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and defamation. It also cites relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, of 2000, addressing privacy violations and the publication of obscene content online.
Keneeshaa's team has collected extensive evidence, including screenshots, URLs, usernames, and metadata, which will be used in judicial proceedings if necessary.
The singer shared the psychological harm and reputational damage caused by these attacks and is determined to hold the offenders accountable.Meanwhile, the divorce case between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi continues to unfold in the Chennai Family Court. On May 21, both appeared before the court and filed separate petitions—Ravi Mohan reaffirmed his intention to proceed with the divorce, while Aarti demanded a monthly alimony of Rs 40 lakh. Ravi also requested the court to reject Aarti's plea for cohabitation. The court has adjourned the matter until June 12, advising both parties to reconsider their positions.
