Siltronic's Q1 2025 Performance

Published 1 month ago2 minute read

Siltronic AG has announced its financial performance for Q1 2025, revealing that it aligned with expectations despite experiencing a 4.1% decrease in sales compared to Q4 2024. Sales reached EUR 345.8 million, a drop primarily attributed to unfavorable product mix and pricing dynamics. The company's EBITDA margin also saw a decrease from 25.8% in Q4 2024 to 22.6% in Q1 2025.

The announcement highlighted persistent challenges, notably, weak demand for wafers, uncertainties related to U.S. tariff policies, and exchange rate fluctuations. Despite these difficulties, Siltronic has maintained its sales guidance for the 2025 fiscal year but has revised its EBITDA margin expectations to a range of 21-25%.

Gross profit and margin faced declines, with the gross margin decreasing from 18.2% in Q4 2024 to 15.9% in Q1 2025 due to a disproportionate decline compared to sales. Income tax expenses decreased substantially to EUR 3.2 million; however, the tax rate remained high. The net result showed a positive EUR 4.3 million, equating to earnings per share of EUR 0.08.

Dr. Michael Heckmeier, CEO of Siltronic AG, noted that the start of the year was within expectations, but visibility remains limited regarding the recovery of customer inventories and the subsequent increase in wafer demand. He also addressed uncertainties stemming from tightened American tariff policies and their potential effects on end-markets and FX rates, though no significant direct impact on Siltronic is currently anticipated.

Equity stood at EUR 2,179.2 million as of March 31, 2025, resulting in an equity ratio of 43.8%. Net financial debt increased from EUR 733.5 million at the end of 2024 to EUR 819.1 million as of March 31, 2025. Looking ahead, Siltronic anticipates that H1 2025 sales will be in the mid to high single-digit percentage range below H2 2024. The company is ready to capitalize on significantly increasing medium and long-term demand for silicon wafers, driven by major technological trends.

An executive board conference call with analysts and investors took place on April 30, 2025. Siltronic, a leading wafer manufacturer, operates globally with production sites in Asia, Europe, and the USA, employing around 4,400 people worldwide.
