A former vice chancellor of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Daknan Decent Danjuma Sheni, Thursday, commended President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his team for approving free education in all federal government technical secondary schools.

Prof Sheni particularly hailed President Tinubu for releasing the sum of N120 billionn towards the revival of technical education in Nigeria.

In a statement he personally signed, Thursday, Sheni stated that the gesture is an unprecedented feat aimed at creating wealth for millions of Nigerian youth through vocational training at young age instead of the trend where millions of Nigerian youth rely on paper qualifications for getting placements in governmental offices, industries  and other critical sectors of the economy.

“This wonderful initiative by our visionary and indefatigable President Tinubu directing the restoration of technical education across the country is apt and revolutionary.

“It is in line with the popular African aphorism which posits:  Instead of giving a child fish, teach him how to fish. Then you have liberated him twice from the race of life.

“It was during the golden era of Nigeria in the 60’s and 70’s when there was no enough  man power that jobs were readily available, but today is a different scenario as our tertiary institutions in the country  churning out millions of our youth without enough space to absorbed them.

“Kudos to President Tinubu’s foresight which is bringing in the antidote to revive technical education as a panacea for our country’s greatness in the comity of industrialised nation, through youth empowerment for sustainable development.”
