Secunderabad-Mangaluru Rail Route To Cut Travel Time By 10 Hours With New Multi-Tracking Project
Good news! Rail connectivity between Secunderabad and Mangaluru will most likely see a major upgrade as a new multi-tracking project between Bellary and Chikjajur in Karnataka has been announced. This will help both passenger and goods train operations while also cutting down total travel time by nearly 10 hours on the Secunderabad-Mangaluru rail route.

As per a report by TOI, a multi-tracking project between Bellary and Chikjajur in Karnataka has now been announced. It will not just improve rail connectivity between Secunderabad and Mangaluru, but also reduce travel time by around 10 hours. Right now, only one train runs between Secunderabad and Mangaluru. It operates just twice a week and takes about 27 hours. However, with this new development, the railways will be able to run direct trains to Mangaluru with a journey time of just 15 to 17 hours, as per a senior railway official.
At present, the train from the twin cities to Mangaluru runs via Kadapa, Renigunta, Salem, Coimbatore, Shornur, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod before reaching its final destination in 27 hours. But with the new Bellary–Chikjajur route, trains can now run from Secunderabad via Bellary, Hospet, Rayadurg, Chikjajur, and Hassan to reach Mangaluru in under 18 hours. This new route will cut down travel time significantly and make journeys a lot more convenient for passengers.
According to TOI, the railways will now be able to operate trains on two different routes for both passenger and freight/goods services to Mangaluru. The first route will connect Secunderabad via Wadi, Guntakal, Bellary, and then Mangaluru. The second route will run via Mahabubnagar, Guntakal, Bellary, and then reach Mangaluru.
This new multi-tracking project between Bellary and Chikjajur will also help boost the freight movement to and from Mangaluru, which is one of the key industrial port cities in the region. It should also be noted that Secunderabad already has port connectivity to Krishnapatnam, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Chennai.
This new link between Bellary and Chikjajur in Karnataka will surely improve the connectivity of the rail network. Plus, it will also enhance the movement of both passengers and goods. What do you think of this new upgrade by Indian Railways? Let us know.
