Published 3 weeks ago2 minute read

Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has urged the police to utilize all available evidence to prosecute individuals involved in violence during the 2024 general elections.

He praised the police for their professionalism during the elections and assured them that those responsible for the violence would be held accountable.

“I must commend the police administration once more for the first time no single shot was fired from the police in this election. All the skirmishes that we had were coming from others, not the police.

“It shows the professionalism in the Police Service, and I hope that all those who misbehaved in one polling station or the other, with the videos that you have, I, as your sector minister, am going to support you to ensure all the perpetrators are brought to book,” he stressed.

During an engagement with police officers in the Ashanti Region, the Minister also pledged logistical support to enhance their operations.

“I have been told about the challenge of vehicles, accommodation, medical facilities and so many other things. I don’t intend to perform magic, that I’ll come and see you today and then by tomorrow, all these problems will be over.

“No, but I can assure you that I have your back and I will work as seriously to make sure most of these problems are resolved,” he said.
