Pope Trump issues new prayer - by Deepak Puri

Published 19 hours ago3 minute read

Our Father who art in heaven , hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven .
Give us this day our daily bread ,
and forgive us our trespasses ,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil .
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.

Christians acting in ways that don’t reflect Christ’s teachings of love

It can be confusing, even painful, to witness people who identify as Christians acting in ways that don’t reflect Christ’s teachings of love, humility, and compassion. If you’ve ever struggled to reconcile that gap, you’re not alone. I’m struggling with you. Here are a few reflections, not as judgment, but as a gentle invitation to consider the deeper journey of faith:

Some identify as Christian through tradition, culture, or community rather than deep conviction. In those cases, the label may not reflect a life shaped by Christ’s message. That doesn’t make the person insincere, it may mean they’re in a different phase of their journey.

Even sincere believers fall short. We’re all shaped by biases and upbringing, and that affects how we interpret scripture. Sometimes, we cling to certain teachings while overlooking others. It’s not always intentional, but growth is gradual.

Christianity calls us to radical love: to forgive, serve, and turn the other cheek. Few live that perfectly, maybe none do. The gap between belief and behavior isn’t always hypocrisy. It may reflect how difficult the path truly is, or a faith still becoming personal.

Jesus warned against faith rooted in appearances, like public prayer or moral posturing, without genuine love. In Matthew 6:1, He said: “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them…”. Faith used to gain status or control isn’t the Gospel. True faith is a practice, not a performance. Jesus said we should be known by our fruit, love, peace, kindness, and humility (Galatians 5:22–23).

“You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16). Titles matter less than how someone lives. Are they offering grace? Serving others? Living love?

Understanding doesn’t excuse harm, but it can bring clarity. True faith isn’t about perfection or appearances. It’s about the heart’s direction. In the end, it’s not about calling others out. It’s about looking inward and asking: “How have my actions today reflected love?”

That question isn’t meant to condemn, but to guide. Whether or not we wear a label, the call is always to love, serve, and grow. And that is between each of us and God." - Mary Patry
