Aflao (VR), May 13, GNA- The Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID) and other collaborators have arrested some four persons suspected of killing a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor in his shop at Aflao. 

The suspects are Michael Sewornu, 34, Korku Agboada, 43, Atsu Agbagla, 36, and Utsuku Onyeso, aged 22. 

The late Christopher Ahordo’s shop was allegedly attacked on Monday, April 28, by a gang of five males, one of whom was in a mask wielding a gun and robbed the victim of his sales for the day, shooting and killing him in the process. 

 A press release issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku, Public Affairs Unit of the Volta Regional Police Headquarters, said the arrest of the four suspects happened on Saturday and that they were expected to be arraigned before court Tuesday. 

“On May 10, 2025, between the hours 1200 and 0200, the RPID, in a joint intelligence-led operation with the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and ‘ACTION NOW’, a community watch committee in Aflao, arrested four suspects who allegedly shot and killed a MoMo vendor in Aflao on April 28, 2025.” 

“… The suspects will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.”  

The release concluded that “The Police are once again entreating the public to be security-conscious and collaborate with us by providing credible and timely information about criminals.” 

Reacting to the development in an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr Saviour Mawuena Kofi Ahiati, Volta Regional Chairman, Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, congratulated the Police and their collaborators for the arrest. 

He said the group was concerned about the security of MoMo operators and planned to hold a meeting in June at Aflao and urged Momo vendors in the region to attend to serve their interest.
