Pierce Brosnan Excited To Watch Michael B. Jordan Lead 'The Thomas Crown Affair' Remake

As his former character, James Bond, is still in the process of being redesigned and recast for modern audiences, continues to delight audiences with new and exciting roles. His latest is the TV series MobLand, and although Bond is still his most important character, Brosnan also looks back on others that helped shoot him to stardom during his prime in the 1990s. One of these was playing Thomas Crown in , the 1999 romantic heist movie that Amazon Studios is now in the process of remaking with Michael B. Jordan as the lead.

Brosnan has now addressed the remake while speaking to GQ about MobLand, in which he co-stars with Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren. During the interview, Brosnan was asked about the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair and whether he approves of Jordan's casting as the roguish billionaire who likes to steal valuable artwork. The 1999 movie was in itself a remake of the 1968 heist film starring Steve McQueen, and Brosnan is very on board with Jordan continuing the legacy:

Pierce Brosnan may be best known for James Bond, but he has a lot of other fantastic movies under his belt too.

"Oh, Michael is such a gifted actor, and it's all his for the doing and the taking. It is. Yeah, why not? I really love heist movies, it's why I made the remake and the timing for me was perfect in the days of MGM and James Bond. So, yes, good luck. I wish him every success."

Pierce Brosnan also revealed that he doubts The Thomas Crown Affair would be made today as it was in the 90s thanks to this era where nudity and sex scenes have become oddly controversial. ""Oh, we live in a time that seems to be so fractured by so many desires and wants and with a heartbeat of anxiety, constant anxiety and disagreement of who we are and what we are, which is definitely perpetuated by, well, media, TikTok," he explained. "But I think the essence of life and what most people wish and desire is romance and love. And within that, from common sense, that not everything works out the way it should do."

"I don't know, I mean, [The] Thomas Crown Affair is something that I am deeply proud of, and there was a gap to do a remake to enter the arena of Steve McQueen. I think our attention span has sort of diminished. So we have to go back. The pendulum has to swing back here at some point to a level of enjoying life moment to moment. Movies are made of dreams. All movies are just dreams essentially. It's just a dream. It's just some storytelling of a dream. It's not real. You don't believe it. It didn't happen. The actors... It's just a dream. It's just a formula."

Pierce Brosnan's most famous franchise, James Bond, is now in flux following a creative takeover by Amazon. And, unless Jeff Bezos wants to go for an Indiana Jones-esque revival, there's likely no place for Brosnan in a modern reboot of the franchise about Agent 007. Though he is interested. But, realistically, Brosnan is now 71 years old, and regardless of how nostalgic it would be to see him playing the spy again, the physical effort required to make an action film of this magnitude could be far too much. In the main role, anyway. Could Brosnan return to the world of 007 as another character? We're thinking M.
