The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zonal Executive Committee on Saturday suspended its Zonal Secretary, Chief Felix Omemu, for alleged misconduct

He was also suspended for issuing statements discrediting the zonal executive meeting held last Saturday in Benin City, Edo State.

The faction Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, moved the motion for Omemu’s suspension at the South-South Zonal Executive Committee meeting in Benin.

The motion was seconded by the lawmaker representing Ogoja/Yala constituency in the House of Representatives, Godwin Offiono.

In his presentation, Amaewhule accused the embattled chairman of misconduct, breach of trust, and fostering division among members.

He said: “Chief Felix Omemu has been suspended and a disciplinary committee was set up to investigate him.

“Omemu’s action is illegal and an attempt to cause disunity and dissuade members from attending the South-South ZEC meeting in Benin.”

The PDP Legal Adviser in the zone, George Turnah, has been appointed as the acting secretary for the one month Omemu’s suspension will last.
