OSL and MoneyHero Forge Partnership for Digital Asset Expansion

Hong Kong-based digital asset firm OSL has forged a strategic collaboration with MoneyHero, a prominent personal finance aggregation and comparison platform. This partnership, announced on Monday (Jun 9), marks MoneyHero's significant entry into the digital asset space, primarily targeting the Hong Kong market.
Under this new arrangement, MoneyHero's platform will empower users to compare digital asset account products offered by licensed platforms like OSL. This comparison will be available alongside traditional financial products such as insurance, stocks, and bank accounts, providing a comprehensive overview for consumers seeking diversified financial solutions.
The collaboration aims to address Hong Kong’s burgeoning interest in digital assets and the increasing demand for diversified financial solutions. According to data from the Investor and Financial Education Council, a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), nearly 8% of Hong Kong retail investors held virtual assets or related products in 2023. This is a substantial increase from just 1% in 2019. Furthermore, 11% of investors have expressed an intent to invest in digital assets, highlighting the growing appetite for regulated and varied financial offerings.
Rohith Murthy, Chief Executive Officer of MoneyHero, commented on the significance of the partnership. He stated, "This collaboration reflects our unique value proposition and position as the leading digital acquisition partner for the majority of banks across Greater Southeast Asia, which we are leveraging to extend our offerings into the digital asset space." Murthy also added that "OSL’s strong regulatory compliance and institutional expertise provide valuable support for our expansion into the sector, where we also see significant potential to broaden our offerings in the future."
MoneyHero is a US-listed company operating as a personal finance aggregation and comparison platform and a digital insurance brokerage provider. It has a strong presence across Greater Southeast Asia, with operations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines. As of December 2024, the platform boasted a monthly user base of over 6.2 million. The company is backed by notable investors, including PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and Richard Li, Chairman of Pacific Century Group and son of Hong Kong’s wealthiest individual, Li Ka-shing.
