A former deputy Western Regional youth organizer of NDC and NDC activist in the Ellembelle District, Abizi Morkeh has reminded His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama to honour his campaign promise by appointing an Nzema as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to manage the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) at Atuabo in the Ellembelle District.

According to him, the situation at Ghana Gas does not warrant a technocrat or engineer as the CEO.

Speaking on West-End Radio morning show at Ambainu on the need for President Mahama to appoint a CEO of Ghana Gas, he said the ability to manage and ensure efficiency at the operations of the national asset, he said though the immediate past CEO of Ghana Gas, Dr Ben Asante was an engineer, yet he cannot be compared to Dr. George Sipa Yankey who was his predecessor in terms of how the latter managed the Company.

"If it is engineer that will be used as a yardstick for appointment as CEO, then Dr Ben Asante is an internationally recognized engineer but could not manage Ghana Gas like Dr George Sipa Yankey did though not an engineer.

He said if you compare Dr. Ben Asante to the pedigree of Dr Robert Kofi Lartey as a CEO, Dr. Ben Asante ranks higher but could not manage Ghana Gas even more than Dr. George Sipa Yankey who is not an engineer left a better Ghana Gas than Dr. Ben Asante.

"So this time round,it is not a matter of being an engineer, it is about someone who can manage,an administrator who should manage the asset. There are technocrats at Ghana Gas who should report to the CEO on what is going on for the CEO to manage the facility".

He, therefore took the opportunity to appeal to President John Mahama to appoint an Nzema as Ghana Gas company.

"We Nzemas are keepable of managing the Ghana Gas company, President Mahama should not make a staff of the company as the CEO because that will not ensure transparency and accountability, someone who is not a staff of the company can have courage to reset the company in order to ensure accountability and transparency", he urged.
