NPP's Kwabena Frimpong Urges Mahama to Post Unemployed Health Graduates | News Ghana
Speaking at the 2025 leadership retreat of the Federation of Ghana Medical Laboratory Students’ Associations (FG-MELSA) in Cape Coast, Frimpong emphasized the “critical national concern” of thousands of idle nurses, midwives, and allied health graduates.
“Their continued unemployment wastes valuable human resources and deepens youth frustration,” Frimpong stated, addressing outgoing and incoming student leaders. He cited former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration (2017–2024), which posted graduates from the 2012–2016 cohort, as a model. “That move brought immense relief to families and strengthened our health sector,” he noted.
Frimpong urged President Mahama to “emulate and build upon that example,” arguing that prioritizing these postings would curb unemployment and harness skilled professionals for national development. The retreat, themed Transitioning with Purpose, gathered leaders from medical laboratory institutions nationwide.
During the event, Frimpong praised outgoing FG-MELSA President H.E. Happy Grace Gyasie for her “blueprint leadership model” and advised incoming President H.E. Benedict Ayitey to lead with “humility, vision, and service.” Reflecting on his own student leadership background, Frimpong stressed that “leadership is not about applause but impact,” encouraging youth to view transitions as opportunities for Ghana’s progress.
