Akwa United assistant coach, Akarandut Orok has praised the team’s determination and doggedness in the victory over Enyimba.

The Promise Keepers defeated the visitors 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.

It was Akwa United’s first win in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, under new head coach, Kennedy Boboye.

Orok claimed that his side deserved their victory.

“We are really excited that we have won this game, it was a tough match, both teams needed victory but we wanted it more.

“That was why our players fought hard and played according to instructions to ensure we secure all three points,” he told the club’s media.

“The boys played very well in all the departments and created good scoring chances but couldn’t convert some of those chances.”

The former champions will be away to Sunshine Stars in their next league game this weekend.
