Northern Community Leaders in Anambra Reaffirm Support for Soludo
The controversial remarks were reportedly made by one Hussaini Haruna, who claimed to be the leader of the Hausa community in Anambra and declared their rejection of Governor Soludo, pledging support instead for Ozo Jeff Nweke of the Action Alliance (AA) Party.
However, this claim has been categorically denied by recognised Northern community leaders in the state.
Gidado Siddiki, Sarkin Fulani of Awka, speaking on behalf of the Northern Community Leadership across Anambra’s three senatorial zones, released an official statement on Saturday clarifying the situation and reiterating their unwavering support for Governor Soludo’s administration.
In the statement, Siddiki emphasized the following key points:
1. Deep Local Roots:
Most members of the Northern community were born and raised in Anambra State, with their homes, businesses, and livelihoods firmly established within the state. Their allegiance, therefore, naturally aligns with the interests of Anambra and its indigenes, including support for Governor Soludo’s leadership.
2. Correction of Misattribution:
The Northern leaders discredited the report published by HeadlinesNews001 on July 4, 2025, titled “Hausa Community Rejects Soludo.” They clarified that Hussaini Haruna does not hold any official position within the Hausa community and was not authorized to speak on their behalf. The legitimate leader of the Hausa community in Awka, Garba Haruna, was neither consulted nor aware of Haruna’s statements.
3. Freedom of Political Choice, Not Community Endorsement:
While individuals are free to support any political candidate, no single person can speak or decide for the entire Hausa community without consensus.
4. Continued Support for Governor Soludo:
The Northern community maintains a respectful, independent stance but remains steadfast in their support of Governor Soludo’s administration. They highlighted the administration’s prompt response to security issues affecting their people and praised the government’s engagement on community concerns.
5. Collaboration on Economic Matters:
The statement noted ongoing dialogue with the state government regarding the future of the cattle market, with assurances from officials to explore alternative arrangements that protect the livelihoods of Northern herders.
The community leaders concluded by reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and productive partnership with Governor Soludo’s administration to ensure security, prosperity, and harmony across Anambra State.
