No to panicking over MPOX cases in BARMM-MOH

COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Government, through the Ministry of Health (MOH), has called on the public to remain vigilant but calm as it reported 46 cases of monkeypox (MPOX) across the region as of June 8, 2025.

This number consists of eight (😎 positive, 31 suspected, and seven (7) probable cases. On the other hand, eight (😎 patients already recovered from the MPOX.

Additionally, no fatalities have been reported to date, and some of the patients with confirmed cases are currently recovering.

In a posted public advisory, the MOH assured that it is working closely with local government units (LGUs) and health agencies to contain the spread of the disease.

The measures come under the directive of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, emphasizing strengthened surveillance and proper medical care for affected individuals.

“We are doing everything we can to mitigate the spread of MPOX. Our teams are conducting specimen collections for confirmatory testing, and we have imposed self-restriction and isolation protocols for suspected and confirmed cases,” the Ministry shared.

It also designated specialized health facilities staffed by trained professionals to manage cases effectively.

“We have assigned well-equipped health centers with medical personnel following strict protocols to ensure proper treatment and containment,” the advisory mentioned.

To curb transmission, the MOH reiterated the following precautions:

“We urge everyone to follow these preventive measures seriously. Early detection and cooperation with health guidelines are crucial in stopping further infections,” the MOH emphasized.
