Nigeria First Policy will create more jobs, stimulate economy, says NADDC boss
The Nigeria First policy will create more jobs in the country as well as stimulate the economy. The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, made this assertion in an interview with The Guardian during the stakeholders’ meeting on Vehicle Dealerships Registrations with the Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON) with the theme, “Import of Used Cars and Dealerships Regulations in Nigeria”, held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.
Osapin added that this will have a multiplier effect on the economy, generate employment and build local capacity to enhance as well as conserve foreign reserves.
Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting, Osanipin said the NADDC’s core mission is to revitalise and foster the robust growth of the Nigerian Automotive Sector.
He said the endeavour is critical, considering the profound multiplier effects it has on the nation’s economy- from generating employment and building local capacity to enhancing infrastructure and conserving the nation’s foreign reserves.
He said they have achieved this through the careful initiation; recommendation supervision and regulation of policies and programmes aimed at promoting locally manufactured vehicles and components.
Osanipin said the goal of NDDC is to cultivate an enabling environment where Nigerian-made vehicles of international standards can be produced at competitive prices, utilising abundant local human and material resources, thereby positioning Nigeria as a leading automotive manufacturing nation globally.
