Niamh Fahey has warned Liverpool FC Women to expect a tough test from visiting West Ham United this afternoon for their second meeting of the week.

The Reds clash with the Hammers again in a Barclays Women's Super League showdown at St Helens Stadium.

Matt Beard's side secured an emphatic 5-0 victory over them in Adobe Women's FA Cup action in midweek away from home, and Fahey knows her teammates will have to be at their best once more.

In the matchday programme notes, the captain writes: "I can't remember too many times during my club career where we have played back-to-back games against the same opponent.

"It may have happened in the League Cup and then the WSL, but rarely in the FA Cup and league.

"It's always a bit weird having two games against the same team in the space of a few days, but I think the FA Cup has a different kind of feel to the league and they will be two completely different games.

"The main thing was to try to progress in the FA Cup first as obviously it's a massive trophy in English football and now we have to try to back that up in the WSL this afternoon.

"West Ham's confidence was high after winning in the League Cup quarter-final and then against Everton in the league last weekend, so their tails were up.

"However, we can only control what we do ourselves and hopefully that's what we do again this afternoon.

"Last Sunday's league game at Leicester City was a frustrating one for us. We were definitely going there to try to pick up three points but for a couple of different reasons we weren't at our usual standards across 90 minutes. I suppose that's been part of our season and trying to find that consistency has been a bit of a challenge for us and it's something that we know we really need to try to rectify. The games are coming thick and fast and so we have to be ready to move on quickly.

"Among the positives last weekend were having Sophie Roman Haug and Julia Bartel on the pitch. It's been great to get Soph back as she's such an important player for us and then to have an exciting young talent like Julia make her debut as well was great to see.

"We were all determined to make a good start to the new year at St Helens, so to get that WSL win against Brighton in our last game here was important."
