Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, an actor known for roles in New Girl, Magnum P.I. and many others, has died. He was 61.
Tuiasosopo's son, Manoah, announced the news Monday in a joint Facebook post signed by the actor's wife, kids, and grandkids. "With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16am," the post reads.
It continues, "My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here. We will continue to live with him in spirit, and as saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain. His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt."
The post states that the family is discussing plans for a celebration of life, with details to be shared at a later time. It concludes by thanking people for their thoughts and well wishes and asks "for your continued support through this tough and emotional time."

A cause of death was not mentioned in the post, but Tuiasosopo's son told TMZ his father died from heart complications in Phoenix, Arizona. He also told the outlet his father was "a trailblazer for Polynesian actors in Hollywood."
Tuiasosopo's first credit came in 1991, as Manumana in the sports comedy film Necessary Roughness. From there, he went on to appear in two episodes of Down the Shore and costar in the TV series Danger Theater as detective Al Hamoki.
His impressive list of television credits also includes 8 episodes as Kaleo on Hawaii and 7 episodes of Young and the Restless as Koa. He guest-starred in numerous other series including NCIS, Mob City, Ray Donovan, black-ish, Mayans M.C. and most recently Magnum P.I. He also had a recurring role on New Girl as Big Bob.
Tuiasosopo also appeared in a number of films, including in the role of Willie Dumaine in 12 Rounds alongside John Cena, as well as The Fast and the Furious, A Perfect Getaway, Batman & Robin, BASEketball, Charlie’s Angels, Austin Powers in Gold Member, Savage and The Scorpion King, among others.
